Farewell Clerkenwell Fire Station

On Thursday 9th January Clerkenwell Fire Station, the oldest in the world, closed it’s door for the final time. We fought hard against the Boris Johnson to save the station and are extremely sad to see it close.

On Thursday 9th January Clerkenwell Fire Station, the oldest in the world, closed it’s door for the final time.

Just an hour earlier they were called out to an emergency, saving a family from a house fire in Regent’s Park.

Islington Labour fought hard to save Clerkenwell Fire Station and we should be proud of our efforts. We also support the local initiative to ensure the building is not sold off to developers and lost to us forever.

The Tory and Lib Dem cuts are responsible for this closure and the attack on our public sector. We may have lost Clerkenwell but the fight goes on.
